Scope and Responsibilities

Oaktree is seeking an undergraduate or masters program summer intern to spend 8-weeks within the Compliance Department.

The Compliance department ensures Oaktree operates in accordance with the applicable regulations, laws, and internal policies required of asset managers, while also supporting the commercial needs of the business. Compliance performs a variety of functions, including reviewing firm and personal trading, writing procedures and policies for investment and operational teams, training staff on regulatory obligations and leveraging technology for surveillance of firm activities. The Compliance internship would assist in the day to day Compliance responsibilities associated with Oaktree’s UK regulated entities and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting and reviewing compliance surveillance reports

  • Assisting with the ongoing compliance and reporting obligations associated with Oaktree’s UK regulated entities

  • Assisting in activities associated with Oaktree’s Code of Ethics and Personal Trading policies and the Supplemental UK Compliance Manual

  • Participating in ad-hoc regional and global compliance projects

Experience required

  • Exceptional analytical skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with a specific emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • General knowledge of securities and/or securities markets (optional)

  • A strong interest in Compliance and willingness to learn a great deal about alternative asset management

Education

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or masters degree from a top university or college.
