The Opportunity

Due to an internal movement within our Finance team, we are currently looking for Group Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to come and join our team in Melbourne where you will be reporting into the Group Financial Reporting Manager.

In this instrumental role your deep expertise in financial reporting and controls will be crucial as you engage with core business units, finance leaders, and our offices across Australia and New Zealand.

You'll drive process improvements, deliver quality financial advice, ensure regulatory compliance, and regularly communicate with key stakeholders. As the technical expert within the financial reporting team, you'll also provide mentorship to your colleagues across the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will coordinate and manage external audits, serving as the primary contact for financial auditors and working to improve audit efficiency and reporting timeliness.

  • You'll ensure compliance with statutory reporting and licensing obligations, prepare financial statements, and manage the adoption of new accounting standards.

  • Collaborating with the Finance Director and Financial Group Controller, you'll establish controls and accounting procedures, and harmonize accounting policies across the Australian group.  

  • Liaising with finance and non-finance stakeholders to ensure a deep understanding of contractual arrangements around the group and the impacts on accounting.

  • Influence company accounting decisions, interpreting IFRS, and contributing to strategic business decisions.

  • Additionally, you'll monitor covenant reporting for all group entities and handle other duties aligned with your expertise.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification required.

  • In depth knowledge of accounting standards (both AASB and IFRS) and confidence in applying these to complex transactions required.

  • Experience in a financial reporting role, including some experience in external audit, consolidation and preparation of financial statements highly desired.

  • Application of standards in the construction sector is preferred, along with a strong understanding of internal controls and the ability to implement changes to enhance these controls.

  • Sound grasp of management accounting concepts relevant to the construction industry is preferred.
