Chief Technology Officer

We are looking for a Head of Developer Experience Engineering to join our engineering leadership team. This role is centered on one core mission: to empower our engineers to focus on coding and delivering value by minimizing toil and friction across the entire development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in defining and executing our "shift-left" quality strategy, directly impacting our ability to move faster with greater confidence.

You will:

  • Lead the Shift-Left Strategy: Architect and champion the adoption of our "shift-left" strategy, embedding quality, security, and operational excellence into the earliest stages of the software development lifecycle.

  • Leverage AI/LLMs: Strategically identify, pilot, and integrate AI/LLM tools (e.g., code assistants, automated documentation) across the SDLC to accelerate code generation, automate repetitive tasks, and drastically improve developer productivity.

  • Drive with Data: Go beyond simple reporting by using key metrics from frameworks such as DORA, SPACE, or Value Stream Metrics to understand, diagnose, and alleviate developer pain points—targeting slow iteration and friction in the pipeline to drive systemic improvement.

  • Champion Quality: Evangelize and drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavioral-Driven Development (BDD), fostering a culture of quality and shared ownership.

  • Lead by Example: Maintain a hands-on approach, serving as a technical role model and coach. You will demonstrate "what good looks like" by building and improving the tools, frameworks, and pipelines that empower our engineering teams.

  • Optimize Developer Flow: Identify and remove bottlenecks in the software development process, from local environments to production deployments, to maximize engineering velocity while minimizing defects.

  • Cultivate a High-Performance Culture: Partner with engineering and product leadership to continuously evolve and enhance our engineering culture, making it more efficient, productive, and rewarding for every engineer.

Ideal Profile

We’re looking for a seasoned software engineer or technical leader with:

  • A proven track record of hands-on technical leadership and cultural transformation that resulted in tangible improvements in developer confidence, velocity, and product quality.

  • Deep expertise in DevOps principles and modern CI/CD pipelines, automation, and release strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience with a hands-on technical background, comfortable coding and debugging complex systems alongside engineers.

  • A strong understanding of developer productivity frameworks, and how to use them to drive business and technical outcomes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience working in complex systems where correctness, scale, and regulation collide (fintech, crypto, trading a plus)

Bullish is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are fast evolving and striving towards being a globally-diverse community. With integrity at our core, our success is driven by a talented team of individuals and the different perspectives they are encouraged to bring to work every day.
