Full-time fixed term position through to December 2025 with a salary in the range $111,154.58 to $124,619.84 (HEW 8) + 17% superannuation.

This role within the UQ Health Care (UQHC) and the University’s Student Support and Wellbeing Service will significantly enhance mental health services for UQ's 56,000 students by improving access to care and promoting positive outcomes for young adult students.
Key responsibilities will include developing and overseeing effective mental health intake processes, conducting comprehensive new patient assessments, and working with staff to strengthen their pastoral care capabilities. This will ensure that students receive the necessary support and guidance for their mental health needs.
Furthermore, the role-holder will collaborate with staff in student-facing service positions to equip them with essential pastoral care competencies.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Intake and bump out triage.
Educate and empower pastoral care among service providers across UQ.
Provision of triage functions within Student Services, such as assessment of risk, urgency and internal/external referral options for all students including those at high risk and/or with complex needs.
Provide appropriate and high-level clinical care including establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient, liaising closely with family and carers (as appropriate), GPs, psychologists, allied health professionals, psychiatrists, and other relevant staff while regularly reviewing the patient’s mental state, and providing information on health care to patients.
Facilitate opportunities for students to engage with clubs, societies and /or social networks on campus and provide support for UQ wellbeing initiatives and activities.
Compliance with work, health and safety policies, procedures.
Tertiary qualification in allied health with at least two years of post-qualifying experience in mental health care. Current AHPRA registration or relevant professional body accreditation. Sound knowledge of QLD and National legislation governing mental health practice.
Proven experience in client assessment, case management, individual and group therapy, and recent acute inpatient or community experience.
Interpersonal Skills and Digital Literacy: Highly developed interpersonal skills to relate to clients from diverse backgrounds. Sound digital literacy skills and ability to use various software packages.

Postgraduate qualification in mental health or mental health nursing is highly desirable.
Appointment to this position requires certified copies for proof of qualification/registration/membership with the appropriate authority within Australia to be provided to the manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
