Job Description:

What will you do?

Build Tableau products that solve real problems

You will develop dashboards, reports, and KPI tools that:

  • Deliver trusted, accessible data to our three core audiences — senior finance leadership, financial analysts, and business partners.
  • Replace manual processes and reduce repetitive effort across Finance.
  • Highlight insights, trends, variances, and key performance drivers.
  • Support essential activities such as budget reviews, trend analysis, and quarter‑end reporting.
  • Evolve as business needs change and new opportunities emerge.

  • While many of our existing products are data‑heavy, you’ll also help shift the portfolio toward more visual, insight‑driven, decision‑ready dashboards.
  • Shape and steward high‑quality data

You’ll work closely with our Data Management team to:

  • Transform raw data into user‑friendly, reliable Tableau data sources
  • Define and refine KPIs used across Finance
  • Conduct high‑level reconciliations between systems
  • Flag data quality issues or unexpected anomalies
  • Investigate issues when something looks “off” and act as the last line of defense
  • Pay extra attention during quarter‑end when metric accuracy is most critical
  • You’re not expected to own pipelines or deep system monitoring — IT and Data Management handle that — but your analytical lens is essential to keeping Finance’s metrics trusted.
  • Own the full analytics product lifecycle
  • Every Senior Data Analyst on the team is responsible for their product’s:
  • Design
  • Development
  • Testing
  • Documentation
  • Training and user support
  • Security and usage monitoring are done centrally, but everything else is in your hands — creating a meaningful sense of ownership and impact.

What will you need to succeed?

To excel in this senior role, you should bring:

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience developing Tableau dashboards and data sources, with a track record of delivering high‑quality, scalable analytics solutions.
  • Deep understanding of analytical data design, including how to structure, transform, and validate data for reliable reporting.
  • Proficiency with SQL or similar tools to investigate, prepare, and reconcile data as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex or ambiguous problems, especially when requirements are unclear or evolving.
  • Strong business and technical acumen, with the ability to translate business questions into practical, data‑driven solutions.

What's in it for you?

This unique role offers:

  • High impact – The dashboards you build directly influence how Finance leaders understand performance and make strategic decisions.

  • Business exposure – Gain deep insight into the metrics and drivers that underpin Sun Life Canada's financial performance.

  • Innovation mindset – Identify opportunities to design new metrics and uncover insights that inform our CFO and leadership teams.

  • Growth opportunities – As you develop trust and capability, you'll have opportunities to lead projects, present to senior leadership, and take on greater visibility.
