Data Scientist II,  Brampton, ON

The Health Data Products & Services (HDPS) team at Loblaw is seeking a talented Data Scientist II to join our innovative team. We are dedicated to leveraging the power of data to improve the health and well-being of Canadians.

As a Data Scientist II, you will play a pivotal role in developing AI and machine learning data products that use vast amounts of pharmacy data. Your work will directly impact the lives of millions of people by enabling more accessible healthcare services by empowering healthcare practitioners in our network.

What You’ll Do:

  • Data Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines using cloud-based technologies (such as Airflow, PySpark) to extract, transform, and load large and complex datasets.

  • Model Development: Build, train, evaluate, and deploy data science models and algorithms to address critical healthcare challenges.

  • Statistical Analysis: Use your expertise to conduct rigorous statistical analyses, including hypothesis testing and A/B testing, to draw meaningful conclusions from data.

  • Insight Generation: Uncover actionable insights from complex data, and communicate findings effectively through compelling visualizations and presentations.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including pharmacists, analysts, and engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science and machine learning, and explore innovative approaches to solve complex problems.

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Solid experience in data science methods such as Regression, Classification, Clustering, Deep learning, NLP, GenAI, etc

  • Extensive industry experience in building, training, evaluating, and optimizing machine learning models, with a strong focus on model development and deployment.

  • Extensive industry experience in data ETL pipeline automation on cloud-based tools (preferably using AirFlow and PySpark).

  • Extensive expertise in statistics, hypothesis testing, A/B testing, and experimental design.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, PySpark, Airflow, and deep learning tools such as Keras or Tensorflow.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas in a concise manner

  • Understanding the healthcare domain, with a passion and desire to make a positive impact.
