The team:
Shipping connects the online marketplace to physical logistics. We simplify options for thousands of sellers, partner with carriers across the globe, and provide cheap, fast and reliable options for millions of buyers.
Shipping Delivery Insights team is responsible for the platform and services which drive the execution of logistics plans of different eBay intermediation programs, such as “Authenticity Guaranteed”, “eBay International Delivery”, “eBay Vault”, “Pickup and Dropoff” and others, and provide insights to monitor, improve and optimize the delivery process of these multi-leg shipment programs.
The role:
We are looking for a full-stack engineer, with emphasis on backend web-services, who is passionate about building global solutions “the right way”. You will collaborate to invent, design and implement scalable, efficient and reliable solutions.
Your work will help eBay delight our buyers and sellers around the world, by enhancing the delivery experience of their items with a diverse set of value-added services.
The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering proficiency, proven track record of solving critical engineering problems. The candidate will be expected to have strong communication skills and to be capable of cross-group collaborations.
BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 10 years work experience or MS with 8 years of relevant experience
Strong experience with JVM languages (Java, Kotlin)
Experience in building large, reliable, scalable distributed systems
Experience with building event-driven applications
Experience with designing and building RESTful APIs with Spring Boot
Experience with at least one scripting language
Proven experience in architecting backend systems
Deep understanding of design patterns, and experience working in a layered architecture
Knowledge of core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms
Experience with modern DevOps principles and continuous delivery
Experience with building front-end applications using React or Angular is a plus
A positive demeanor with a strong desire to succeed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
You will also be expected to:
Work closely with colleagues and customers in different functional groups and remote offices
Identify problem areas in the broader Shipping areas, write proposals for product solutions, align various stakeholders, design, build and deliver solutions end to end
Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation
Enjoy being on a team of motivated, collaborative, high-achievers
Communicate optimally and clearly within your team and across teams
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.
$149,200 - $234,850Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
