The Role:

The Legal and Risk Administrator reports to the Chief Legal Officer and will work on policy development, legal research, privacy, and data governance, and for new and other regulatory compliance and risk programs and initiatives. These efforts will include working with internal stakeholders and external vendors and expert advisors including legal counsel and external government agencies (e.g., the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Ministry of Accessibility). 

The Accountabilities:

  • Assist in policy development, legal research, privacy, and data governance, and for new and other compliance and risk programs and initiatives.
  • Perform research, collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Manage multiple projects and activities of varying complexity while under time constraints.
  • Play an active role in ensuring the success of key projects, including tracking progress, updating the team and manager, and meeting deadlines.
  • Assisting with the drafting and updating of policies and internal training.
  • Assistance with preparing slide presentations to ensure brand consistency.
  • Collecting and collating physician-specific data and generating report cards with the support of our analytics team.
  • Taking minutes, developing agendas, and following up on any deliverables.
  • Sending out invitations and collecting RSVPs for events, and meetings, other administrative tasks

The Requirements:

  •  Degree in Information/Library Studies, Law and Society, Business, or another related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Excellent written and spoken grasp of English and proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Previous research experience, specifically using CanLII and other legal resources is valuable.
  • High precision and attention to detail, patience, and ability to work with repetitive tasks.
  • Determination to meet deadlines, multitask, work on urgent matters, and set priorities is a must.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the drafting and updating of policies and internal training.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
