As a Sr. Manager, United Academy Operations at United Rentals, you are responsible for leading the operations to ensure UA customers have the best and most consistent experience. Manages UA team efforts to improve sales and reduce cost of doing business. Focus the UA operations organization in executing in the highest level of efficiency.

What you’ll do:        

Sales and Marketing

      Execute the broad sales and marketing strategy for United Academy

  • Works with Director of UA to develop and execute the overall plan

  • Partners with marketing and advertising agencies on collateral development and digital marketing

  • Lead the development of advertising, and build relationships and alliances with industry associations such as: American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), National Safety Council (NSA), Houston Area Safety Council, Alberta Safety/Construction Council, IPAF, Union locals and construction specific trade associations.

  • Build relationships with these organizations to find mutual opportunities with the end goals of driving sales of United Academy and UR and building brand awareness for both.

  • Sales Team Training – Direct the development and delivery of training materials for national & strategic account managers and outside & inside sales reps

  • Sales Team Support – partner with the United Academy RPDMs group to promote the Academy through the UR National, Strategic and Key accounts. Provide direction and oversight of agency work on marketing and tradeshow collateral, booth displays, digital marketing and website/search optimization, and special projects

Customer Experience

  • Closely work with the Regional teams to ensure the same standards are followed, resulting in a consistent customer experience.

  • Lead the efforts to gather customer feedback and use it to continuously improve the business with defined performance indicators.

  • Identify and implement mechanisms to gather customer feedback to ensure academy offerings are aligned to actual customer needs.

Growth and Profitability

  • Responsible for delivering growth and overall profitability for the whole UA business in accordance with defined annual business plans.

  • Manage financial performance across the regional teams optimizing the cost of doing business.

Operational Excellence Focus

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a management system for excellence in service quality.

  • Lead the business to meet the annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) improvement goals, and maintain a reporting system to track and communicate performance.

  • Design and implement operation strategies for greater process optimization.

  • Direct reports will be Safety Training Managers plus dotted line oversight of full time regional safety trainers.

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Must possess strong analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to work and be effective in a team/matrix reporting environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable presenting to sr. mgmt. and varying audiences.
  • Ability to coach, motivate and influence others toward action.
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Up to 40% travel is required
