The Roles:

The Head of Lending business reports to the Head of Wealth Management and leads a global team of professionals managing Wealth’s Lending business. The incumbent develops and executes the lending strategy for Wealth on a global basis across all Wealth business segments designed to optimize revenue growth and capital usage (returns), expand market share, deepen client relationship, and broaden credit product and service delivery. Head of Lending leads a team of approximately 500 professionals in global locations. The Lending business is accountable for a portfolio exposure of approximately $170 Billion within Citi Wealth. The Head of Lending manages the employees, budget, business planning and execution activities of all lending products. The position has responsibility to make independent decisions on activities and issues that impact or influence on company revenues, capital, and business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manages the lending product portfolio exposure of approximately $170 Billion across all of the Wealth businesses. This entails working closely with business partners and second line of defense, to define client-centric lending products tailored to each client segment needs. Deepen/strengthens key Wealth lending client relationships and actively engages in New Client Acquisition activities and prospecting.
  • Ensure lending limits and capital allocations are appropriately dimensioned to support business growth objectives.
  • Major products include: securities based lending, structured lending, Residential Real Estate.
  • Drive lending operational and technology requirements designed to simplify and streamline the delivery of lending products to support business goals, growth, and optimization of lending products to clients.
  • Responsible for Lending’s budget, resource allocation, revenue and expense management and attendant performance metrics for the business. Business performance reporting on portfolio performance, metrics, risk & controls and progress against established business goals and initiatives.
  • Represent Wealth Lending by participating in relevant committees, forums, and business councils. Partner with ICRM, ERM and Independent Risk to drive consistency in risk management of lending exposure across Wealth business.
  • Leads management and coordination of regularly relationships in partnership with Citi’s CAO and COO organizations.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and controls are in place to support lending activities across Wealth’s global platforms.
  • Identify appropriate Risk levels, driving the development and optimization of first-line business-led risk management processes and procedures.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and requirements related to lending products and activities on a global basis.
  • Act as senior business credit risk approver (SCO Level 1) regarding complex credit requests as required by Citi policy.

Qualifications:

  • 10 plus years of progressively increasing experience related to bank lending products and delivery.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience including talent attraction, development, and people management skills. Position directly manages the lending product offerings across all segments of the Wealth business.
  • Expertise in secured and unsecured Wholesale credit risk lending; SCO Level 1 designation is desirable. Retail credit risk experience is desirable.
  • Proven analytical and problem analysis and solutioning experience.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and executive level presentation capabilities. Ability to participate in leadership team of Wealth organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related discipline. Master’s degree is preferred.
