Your New Role...

Security Guard

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Greets visitors and guests, answers questions related to WBD visitor policy; ensures all persons entering CNN Washington meet security requirements.

  • Uses software applications (Microsoft Office, etc.) to document security related activity and write incident reports.

  • Occupies fixed security posts throughout the facility to screen visitors and guests and control access to employee workspace, according to post orders and standard operating procedures.

  • Provides security escorts of employees and high-profile guests as needed.

  • Drives the Security shuttle (mid-size sport utility vehicle) in most weather and at varying times of day to escort employees to and from nearby parking locations and hotels as needed.

  • Monitors various software applications related to security and critical infrastructure, including closed-circuit television, access control, etc.

  • Answers, screens, and directs telephone calls from authorized persons to employees.

  • Performs security patrols of the CNN Washington Bureau to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and guests, and preserve the security of workspace and critical infrastructure.

  • Responds to various emergency situations, including alarms, medical emergencies, etc.

  • Manages disruptive people according to established policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

 

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.

  • Two years of experience in a related field of employment preferred. 

  • Possess and maintain a valid U.S. state issued driver’s license and possess a record of safe driving with at least 6 months of driving history.

  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as part of a team while interacting with a variety of employees, tenants, visitors, and supervisors, sometimes under potentially stressful circumstances.

  • Ability to respond quickly and safely to alarms, medical emergencies, and other similar incidents while following emergency response procedures.

  • Possess analytical skills necessary to inspect WBD property, recognize safety concerns, and identify security vulnerabilities and violations.

  • Physical ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in diverse physical environments (indoor/outdoor), lift/carry injured/disabled individuals of varying sizes and weight and walk and/or run up and down multiple flights of stairs while carrying emergency equipment.

  • Ability to work any shift, including evenings and overnights, any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, without restrictions.

  • Pass the background investigation.

  • Obtain and maintain annual certifications, including without limitation, Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, and DC Defensive Driving.

  • Obtain and maintain a District of Columbia Security Officer occupational license as a condition of employment.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $45,760 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick time and vacation.
