The Associate, Consumer Loan Processing role will manage the loan application (mortgage and consumer) process by reviewing and verifying borrowers’ information, collecting required documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.  This role involves coordinating with key stakeholders and acting as the borrower’s primary contact.  The loan processor will act as the borrowers advocate and work closely with borrowers to ensure timely updates and a positive client experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify information on loan applications and documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Gather required documents from borrowers, such as income verification, asset statements, and letters of explanations.

  • Maintain organized files, ensuring all necessary documents are included and up to date.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers, realtors, loan officers and other key stakeholders.

  • Work closely with partners, including loan officers, underwriters and closing to address any conditions or additional information needed.

  • Coordinate and participate in pipeline management calls with underwriters and loan officers to address any issues. Escalate matters requiring attention due to timelines or client concerns.

  • Engage and work collaboratively with key partners including sales, underwriting, closing, and other colleagues ensure consistency and quality service throughout the lending experience.

  • Review and label documents accurately in document retention system to ensure ease of access for underwriters and to avoid duplication.

  • Anticipate additional requirements based on the information received and loan parameters. This includes a review of the credit report, to identify inquiries and delinquency.

  • Help to identify and remediate CIP/CDD and fraud issues.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by managing to key productivity metrics and managing to key dates including document expiration, rate locks, and commitment/closing dates (as appropriate).

  • Communicate clearly, professionally and with correct grammar to reflect companies’ high standards of work.

  • Assist borrowers in obtaining necessary documents if they encounter difficulties.  This may involve reaching out to internal partners or external contacts provided by the borrower. Additionally, leverage any relevant Webster Bank information such as bank statements or homeowners’ insurance.

  • Return calls and emails within 24 hours to ensure timely and effective communication.

  • Stay informed about product and document requirements.

  • Maintain minimal client escalations and work to resolve issues promptly by taking ownership and escalating to management when necessary.

  • Take ownership of loan files and involve the loan officer once other avenues have been explored or when related to product or pricing.

  • Utilize available resources to uncover solutions and identify necessary information.

Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in loan processing environment strongly preferred.

  • Attention to detail a must.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Some understanding of loan products and required documents.

  • Proficient in using loan processing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
