Join the Mechanical Engineering team at Lumentum, where you will contribute to groundbreaking projects that shape the future of optical technologies and commercial laser solutions. Our team is focused on designing and optimizing innovative solutions to meet the evolving demands of the industry. As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in developing real-world applications.

Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:

• Design components and mechanisms for products and manufacturing tooling’s.
• Create models, assemblies and drawings using SolidWorks
• Perform thermal, flow and stress simulation as required.
• Perform tolerance stack up analysis.
• Co-ordinate with vendor for part order and fabrication.
• Assisting in building prototypes and testing.
• Create detailed BOM drawings for assemblies.
• Excellent hands-on, communication and teamwork skills required.
• Interface with other engineers, scientists and subject matter experts in simulation and testing.

Location
This internship will be on-site in San Jose, California.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Desired Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is a plus.

Pay Range: $23.75 - 54.30/hour USD
