About the Role:

The Accounting and Reconciliation teams are building critical financial products that ensure the accuracy and completeness of Remitly’s financial data and are keystone to our company wide financial statements. We are building the software automating daily operations of our Accounting and Reconciliation teams and helping them manage millions of transactional events with a focus on reducing time and operational overhead. You will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager, based in Poland. 

As the team manager you will contribute to engineering strategy, improving recruiting and cultural practices, and overseeing diverse projects across the Finance Products engineering team. You are a partner who creates a welcoming team culture across the company. You will manage a team of highly engaged engineers while growing the careers of team members and shaping the engineering culture of Remitly as a whole.

You Will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers building world class finance solutions

  • Provide Technical Leadership and lead complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.

  • Partner with product managers to understand requirements, translate these requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.

  • Set the technical vision for the integration platform team and partner with engineers of other teams to set a broader technical vision.

  • Explain the options and tradeoffs between schedule, features, and quality across interdependent systems, and make sound technical decisions.

  • Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.

You Have:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in a software engineering role

  • 2+ in a technical leadership role.

  • Experience leading core engineering efforts / technical teams / building diverse, empowered teams

  • Experience defining and influencing technical designs and processes across a team.

  • An understanding of software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms

  • Strong leadership skills allowing you to help the team in making technical decisions

  • Great communication skills to advocate engineering needs with our business partners

  • Bonus points for experience in FinTech
