About the role

APM Terminals is looking for a Functional Process Owner (FPO) for the Finance function—someone who enjoys shaping how people work and building processes that empower global teams. The FPO plays a central role in defining and improving the APMT way of working, ensuring processes are consistent, intuitive and designed with the end user in mind.

The FPO partners closely with Business Process Owners (BPOs), IT, Governance teams and functional leadership across the globe. It’s a role for someone who thrives on creating clarity, guiding change and ensuring the business has the right frameworks to operate smoothly and sustainably. This position is based in The Hague, with a global scope and limited travel.

Key responsibilities

In this role, the Functional Process Owner will:

  • Own one or more Finance L3 processes and steward process design down to the detailed L5 level

  • Keep process maps up to date, including inputs, outputs, risk and controls, KPIs and key user journeys

  • Lead a team of Business Process Experts and/or Data Stewards, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment

  • Drive standardisation, automation and simplification across processes to achieve APMT’s global operating goals

  • Ensure policy choices and design decisions support high‑quality, scalable and sustainable ways of working

  • Oversee performance management, ensuring clear operational metrics and compliance with audit and control requirements

  • Drive change management activities, including assessment, prioritisation and stakeholder alignment

  • Evaluate and recommend process improvement initiatives with solid business justification

  • Act as functional lead for new terminal acquisitions, ensuring the APMT standard way of working is adopted effectively
