About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of OpenShift architecture (masters, workers, etcd, Operators, OLM, MachineSets).

  • Experience administering OpenShift 4.x clusters.
  • Hands‑on experience with Operators, CRDs, Machine API, and Cluster Operators.
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes primitives, networking, namespaces, scheduling, RBAC, and resource management.

  • Understanding of service mesh, ingress routing, and container orchestration best practices.
  • Strong RHEL/Linux administration experience.

  • Understanding of SELinux, firewalls, DNS, systemd, and OS-level tuning.
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Ansible).

  • Experience with Git, GitOps workflows, CI/CD tools, registries, and image lifecycle management.
  • Good understanding of VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter, storage provisioning, and networking.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, Alertmanager and security scanners.

  • Understanding of container security (image scanning, vulnerability management, Pod Security, SCCs).


Job Expectations:

  • Deploying, configuring, and administering Red Hat OpenShift clusters (on‑prem, VMware, or cloud).
  • Managing the full lifecycle of OpenShift clusters including provisioning, upgrades, and patching.
  • Ensuring high availability and reliability of OpenShift clusters, including managing control plane, worker nodes, and etcd.
  • Managing and rotating platform certificates (cluster, ingress, API, internal certs).
  • Performing cluster health checks, capacity planning, resource optimization, and SLA compliance.
  • Enabling and supporting application teams with deployment strategies (Deployments, StatefulSets, Operators).
  • Managing OpenShift Operators, cluster‑level services, and custom resource definitions (CRDs).
  • Troubleshooting deployment, image, scaling, and runtime issues.
  • Configuring and managing monitoring stack (Prometheus, Cluster Monitoring Operator).
  • Managing logging stack
  • Troubleshooting platform-level issues including node failures, networking, performance, and image registry issues.
  • Working closely with dev teams, SRE teams, and security teams to provide platform expertise.
  • Creating documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
  • Participating in on‑call rotation for platform incidents.
  • Ensuring compliance with enterprise security standards (audit logs, encryption, vulnerability scanning).
