Job Description

The Cloud/Data Platform Engineer will enhance our Research Data & Analytics Platform by building AWS-based, self-service products and hosted applications that accelerate the delivery of high-value R&D data products. This role will implement end-to-end data observability, develop reusable governed capabilities, and support scientists and product teams in building services and solutions on the Platform.

Responsibilities: 

• Build and manage AWS-based products using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and other modern Platform Engineering tools

• Maintain cost, security and lifecycle controls for our shared AWS environment supporting scientists and product teams

• Use DevXOps tooling to build CI/CD for automated deployments of products and applications

• Deploy and manage containerized workloads on Kubernetes and AWS EKS/ECS

• Automate operational tasks using Python and Bash

• Implement observability and logging with standard tools, and AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana

• Work with AWS data services (RDS, Glue, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker) 

• Maintain and build hosting solutions for vendor-provided applications

• Integrate with non-AWS services and software, such as Databricks and Posit

Requirements: 

• IaC & Automation: Terraform, Ansible 

• Containers: Kubernetes, Docker, AWS EKS/ECS/ECR 

• DevXOps tools: GitHub Actions, git, Artifactory 

• OS: Linux (Debian, RedHat)

• Scripting: Python, Bash

• Networking: VPC, ALB, Route53

• Monitoring: Grafana, CloudWatch, Prometheus

• AWS Services: IAM, Lambda, EC2, S3, SageMaker, RDS, Redshift, networking
