Help us get ahead of disease together with our Value Stream 2 (VS2) Business Area, Change Over Process Flow Improvement Internship, 2025: 

Education required: Undergraduate studying a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Chemical Engineering

Other requirements: Must be enrolled at a SG university for the duration of your internship and doing a full-time credit-bearing internship

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Internship period: July to December 2025

What will you do?

Based at the Jurong site in Pioneer Sector 1, you will actively participate and be involved in driving improvements to process flows across the GSK manufacturing supply chain, specifically for plant change over processes at Jurong site, Singapore. Jurong is a key New Product Introduction site for GSK.

At the end of the internship, you would expect to have experienced and accomplished the following:

Understanding of various plant activities in a live manufacturing environment for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, with focus on manufacturing plant change over processes. Actively led or participated in Kaizen sessions to develop strategies and ideas for plant change over process flow optimisation, through the use of:

  • Analysis of plant change over performance data through data collection and mining

  • Application of lean principles and tools such as 5S, standard work, DMAIC and Continuous Improvement @ Gemba to surface out wastes in the workflow

  • Advocating continuous improvement mindset and culture through engagement with various departments (e.g. Value Streams, Quality Laboratory, Engineering etc.) for identification of improvement opportunities

Contributed to the site’s overall continuous improvement culture by providing support to the manufacturing Change Over team through the use of the GPS (GSK Production System) Framework. Assisted in the coordination and facilitation of:

  • "Kaizen" (Improvement) Workshops

  • Improvements to the KPI dashboards for manufacturing Change Over

  • Department events which provide valuable experience that comes with the immersion of oneself in the GSK culture

  • Many other ad-hoc events that serve as platforms for ample opportunities to build a network within the GSK community

What will you learn?

  • Being part of the Manufacturing Change Over team, work closely with Quality, Engineering & Technical (MSAT) functions to develop strategies and ideas to improve process flows.

  • Spend time in the plant to analyse processes and look for improvement opportunities.

  • Opportunities to be exposed to lean concepts on GPS as well as digitalisation and Smart Manufacturing platforms

What are we looking for?

  • Individual who is curious and hungry to learn

  • Flexible; able to work both independently and as a team

  • Strong ability to analyse and present data

  • Sociable, with excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Knowledge of PowerBI, advanced analytics in Excel is a bonus
