What We're Looking For:

The Cloud Engineer, Manager oversees, mentors, and directs a highly technical team of cloud engineers. The role is responsible for driving the architecture, continuous automation, security posture, and lifecycle management of Zebra’s enterprise multi-cloud platforms. Combining strategic planning with hands-on oversight, this leader collaborates closely with cross-functional Agile product development, Security and operations teams to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and security across multi-cloud environments (GCP, Azure, and AWS)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

– Prepares a variety of system development cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
– Prepares and presents cross-functional project proposals to management and user departments.
– Implements standards and documentation requirements.
– Reviews current status of systems, applications and/or infrastructure and prepares recommendations
for improvements.
– Executes plans to analyze business problems that can be solved through automated systems.
– Plans, manages and controls the activities of a team that provides technical expertise in identifying,
evaluating and developing systems, applications or infrastructure that are cost effective and meet
user requirements.
– Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
– Works with internal and/or external customers applying a strong understanding of current business trends.

Define and evolve cloud architecture standards, patterns, and reference implementations across public, private, and hybrid environments.

Lead the design and review of cloud‑native solutions across IaaS, PaaS, and containerized platforms.

Ensure platforms and applications are designed for high availability, resilience, scalability, and disaster recovery.

Act as a subject‑matter expert for cloud networking, provisioning, automation, and platform services.

Evaluate new cloud services, tools, and architectural approaches, providing clear recommendations with trade‑offs.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Hands-on experience as an engineering leader with a deep understanding of cloud-native system design, microservices, and API development.
  • Proficient working knowledge across leading cloud platforms, primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, as well as AWS 
  • Strong hands-on coding background in modern programming languages like Python, and experience utilizing cloud automation scripts 
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, RBAC, Zero Trust, lease privilege, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures.
  • Robust understanding of CI/CD frameworks, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and advanced cloud monitoring/observability tools (DataDog)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot highly complex network, cloud platform, and infrastructure-level system incidents under pressure 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to distill complex technical subjects into clear executive-level presentations
  • Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is highly preferred 

• 10+ years of overall experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with at least 2-3 years in advanced cloud-native development or architecture.

3–5+ years of experience in a formal leadership/management role leading highly technical engineering teams
