THE OPPORTUNITY

We currently have an opportunity for a motivated and talented Controls System Support Engineer to join our Customer Service team.  Based at a leading client site in Tarneit, you will play a leading role in the deployment and support of electrical control systems, designing, documenting, testing and commissioning material handling automation hardware and PLC software.

The position also provides opportunities to travel across a number of our customer locations within ANZ

The successful candidate must have a professional self-driven manner and display a dedication to providing a high quality output, along with an ability to work effectively under pressure in business-critical environments.  

  • Work Pattern: 12-hour rostered shift pattern and includes floating shift support

  • Work permanently: 4 On – 5 Off, 5 On – 4 Off and 5 On – 5 Off (6:00am to 6:00pm/6:00pm to 6:00am)

Tasks and Qualifications:

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Providing second level technical support to maintenance team as required

  • Conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work

  • Prepare/assist with budget costing and quoting

  • Complete regular system diagnostics and analysis procedures and provide customer reports

  • Preparation of PLC programs and configuration of SCADA and PLC-related equipment e.g. HMI’s, Scanners, Roller drive-cards and VSD’s.

  • Report on designed/installed equipment which is not performing to the design specifications

  • Testing and commissioning of systems on site

  • Preparation of test plans and operator & technical manuals

  • Training of client personnel and providing customer support

SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS  

  • Degree qualified: engineering or scientific discipline or electrical trade with tertiary qualifications in

  • the areas of engineering/electronics/mechatronics.

  • Knowledge of configuration, programming and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable

  • speed drives, barcode scanners and safety devices

  • Knowledge of SCADA applications like ICONICS, CITEC and WINCC

  • Knowledge of materials handling system controls is highly desirable such as conveyors and sortation

  • Ability to work without supervision and guide teams/projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Electrical trades licence qualification is highly regarded
