About the role

We are a seeking a Fire Suppression - Leading Hand to provide product support and technical services to our customers alongside our Fire Suppression products. This role will also be required to provide guidance and support to the Fire Suppression Technicians, while also estimating, quoting and planning of fleets.

The Fire Suppression Business maintains a firm commitment to the quality objectives for the company and promotes business through exceptional customer service.

As a Fire Suppression Technician, you will be required to install and maintain fire suppression systems in the workshop and in the field.

Main responsibilities

• Train and coach Fire Suppression Technicians and assist in training and accreditation in installation of fire suppression systems;
• Estimating and quoting of jobs for customers. Assistance with accumulating paperwork for Service coordination;
• Adhere to all policies & procedures especially the EHS policies;
• Support technicians from other regions and assist in training;
• Perform fault diagnosis, maintain and install Fire Suppression systems;
• Work effectively either in a team environment or autonomously;
• Be highly developed in your communication and interpersonal skills;
• Be able to identify opportunity for business growth; and actively participate in sales activities;
• Assist with machine audits/inspections;
• Internal Sandvik product accredited certification will be provided;

About you 

You will have strong customer relation skills and the ability to effectively work within a team, with possible team leading experience in previous roles.  You are flexible to work with customer requirements, procedures, and follow all safety policies.  Further, you have a positive attitude and a high level of determination to achieve targets set for customer satisfaction and have a keen eye for detail in hands on work as well as administrative duties.

Having direct knowledge and exposure to fire suppression systems applicable to predominantly underground with installation and service experience of Mobile Fire Suppression systems is beneficial and being accredited by the Fire Protection Association (FPA) will be highly sought after. We do also encourage anyone with leadership experience in a trade-based role (fitter and tuner or boiler maker) who is willing to learn fires suppression systems, to apply.

You currently live in Mount Isa or be willing to relocate to the region, have a Valid driver’s license & Basic computer literacy incl. E-mail, Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
