Position Overview:

As the Calibration Engineering Manager, you will provide technical direction and project leadership in the development and calibration of marine engines and vessel control systems. The technical scope requires a strong knowledge of internal combustion engines including calibration, emissions, and working knowledge of thermodynamics.  As well as a deep understanding of controls systems and how they apply to vessel/vehicle systems with first order principles. As the leader of this team, you will oversee the group workflow of 6-8 engineers and technicians.  This includes managing the group budget, forecasting work load, and coordinating work with the rest of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide tactical and strategic leadership of the Engine and Vessel Calibration group

  • Deliver functional support to cross-functional product development teams following High Performance Product Development (HPPD) principles

  • Supply technical oversight for all calibration development efforts to ensure products meet functional requirements and achieve all test standard requirements

  • Develop and execute training plans to maintain and improve the technical capabilities of the group in:

    ·       Engine/Drivability calibration

    ·       Data acquisition and analysis

    ·       Vessel/Advanced Feature development and calibration

    ·       Develop leadership capabilities

    ·       Assist the group and organization with developing and improving test and design standards.

  • Provide cultural and leadership management of the group. This includes staffing, individual and team capability development, and performance management

  • Plan and allocate team resources to align with projects scope and technical needs

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 10+ years of engineering experience with propulsion or vessel/vehicle calibration

  • 2+ years of experience leading technical projects and leading engineers and/or technicians.

  • Experience with CAN/ECU communication data collection tool

  • Understanding of system level testing and validation

The anticipated pay range for this position is $118,400 - $190,200 annually.  The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.  In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
