The NVIDIA® CUDA® Toolkit provides a comprehensive development environment for C and C++ developers building GPU-accelerated applications. To help document the CUDA Toolkit and Libraries, we're seeking an experienced technical writer with passion and drive, technical proficiency, and excellent writing and editing skills.
We’re looking for someone who can quickly form good working relationships with developers and work collaboratively to produce great documentation that simplifies, explains, and empowers our users! This includes a mix of writing from scratch and revising draft documents supplied by developers.
What you'll be doing:
Writing documentation about new software features and updating existing documents such as programming guides and application programming interface (API) references
Researching, scoping and managing documentation projects
Gathering, editing, and publishing subject-specific knowledge from subject matter experts and developers
Supporting development teams and delivering high-quality technical content within a fast-paced software release schedule
Contributing to internal templates and standards to build clear and reusable content
Driving the technical review process
Possibly also preparing illustrations, photographs, diagrams, and charts, and assist in graphic layouts.
Possibly writing sample code to demonstrate API usage
What we need to see:
5+ years demonstrated ability working as a technical writer on different types of documentation, particularly API references, developer guides, and user manuals
Authoring experience with Markdown or reStructuredText
Experience with both the "docs as code" model as well as some experience using DITA
Familiarity with C / C++ / Python
Ability to run sophisticated software using Linux and Docker
A curiosity about thinking like a developer and writing the documentation they need
A talent for identifying updates and changes that will affect users and documentation
The flexibility to find whatever method works best to get close to subject matter experts and learn what they know
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Proficiency using Doxygen to document source code
Deep understanding of source control tools (such as Perforce and GitHub) and experience using issue trackers such as JIRA to track project tasks
Experience documenting complex data center-based services and platforms.
Understanding of Deep Learning, neural networks, software frameworks for machine intelligence and system virtualization.
Software engineering experience
You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
