Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the R&D activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience. 

How you will contribute

You will work independently to plan, lead, and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D, marketing, and manufacturing requirements.  You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, and consumer test preparation. etc.). You will provide direction for product development; you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

More about this role

This is a critical position for the NA candy business and reports directly to the Group Leader, North America Candy. 

What extra ingredients you will bring: 

The candidate must be versatile, able to work in cross-functional teams, and be capable of working proactively across multiple projects. The candidate should be able to leverage experts/partners to ensure compliance with documentation, shelf life, regulatory requirements for NA, FTO/IP, and confidentiality requirements. 

Job specific requirements: 

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience, preferably in the food industry. 

  • Strong technical foundation and technical curiosity.  Knowledge of formulation/processes is a strong plus. 

  •  Able to develop and drive technical projects with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing, gather and analyze data, and develop recommendations based on findings & business context. 

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and manage complexity, from bench top to full commercialization.  

  • Participate in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.  

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization 

Education / Certifications:

BS in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related field. 

Travel requirements:

Up to 30% International & Domestic travel

Work schedule:

On-site role based in East Hanover, NJ. Flexible hybrid work schedule.

Salary and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $97,300 to $133,815; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
