Job Description:

A Project Chief Engineer / Design Authority (DA) is required to join the Combat Air business group, covering RF ED Technology. This area of Combat Air is developing state-of-the-art airborne electronic systems for Global Combat Air Program (GCAP).

The above will cover internally funded Product Development, customer Technology Demonstrator Programmes and customer Main Development Contracts.

You will be involved with product development and emerging technologies supported by Leonardo’s Product investment in research and development.

These projects will push the boundaries of innovation, technology, and the ingenuity of our engineering community to provide the required level of performance and capability of our airborne electronic systems.

The Chief Engineer will provide technical support and expertise to the project engineering teams, while ensuring the governance and quality for the projects’ delivery. 

This role will allow the successful candidate to use their knowledge to understand the End User’s needs, and then help guide them in the definition and shaping of their future EW capabilities.

The Chief Engineer will need to:

• Be delegated by the business as the Design Authority & Company Technical Signatory for the required RF technology projects.
• Be a domain expert, in EW Systems engaging with customers to define the technical solution.
• Ensure independent product assurance through Design Reviews and ensuring company procedures are adhered to.
• Be responsible for delivered product design, compliance, safety and integrity.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplined project team in close partnership with key stakeholders
