JOB SUMMARY
Job Profile Summary
Responsible for coordinating environmental compliance, remediation and company support for operating segments and construction projects through the application of knowledge and experience of compliance and environmental programs in accordance with the company mission, vision, and values.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide mentoring and onboarding of new employees, assisting with compliance requirements and organizational procedures and tools.
- Evaluate operating and project data gathered or entered into templates to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data relative to operating parameters or construction specifications in order to facilitate compliance evaluation or reporting.
- Coordinate field inspections at operating assets and on construction projects to identify compliance improvement opportunities and review identified opportunities for application across a broader asset base. Ensure corrective actions are sustainable and provide ongoing compliance. Participate in internal audits of facilities outside area of responsibility.
- Coordinate and participate in agency inspections in the field and act as the primary representative for the company in verbal and written communication with agency representatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate environmental permitting prior to, during, and after construction for maintenance, growth and large capital projects.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of emerging regulatory issues through committees of Industry Associations or in support of the company Regulatory Issue Guideline.
- Provide regulatory applicability determinations and identify compliance requirements and tasks. Escalate issues to more experienced professionals to resolve complex questions of applicability or requirements.
- Facilitate multiple environmental programs within operating assets or construction projects.
- Utilize and improve upon established procedures and tools to facilitate and demonstrate compliance.
- Evaluate and interpret operating and inspection reports to ensure compliance obligations are met and resolve issues with support of more knowledgeable personnel.
- Oversee field based contract and consultant resources that provide compliance support to operations or individual compliance programs. Provide support to less experienced professionals in the development of requests for proposals, proposal evaluation, work offers and work authorizations.
- Initiate or author permit applications for new construction and operating assets and review permit conditions for consistency with operating or construction parameters with support from subject matter experts on complex projects.
- Work within already established compliance system to coordinate data management and environmental records. Evaluate data and records to ensure accuracy and full compliance.
- Collect environmental field samples (air, water, and waste) for analysis.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental, natural science, engineering preferred and/or a combination of formal education and the following job related experience:
Work Experience
- This role is typically attained through 3 - 5 years related experience in environmental compliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of: state and federal environmental regulations and standards and their applicability to operations.
- Ability to: analyze, research, compile, and prepare permit applications, logs, reports, and correspondence and company responses to agency requests.
- Ability to: evaluate, research, and interpret governmental regulations, equipment performance manuals, regulatory agency guidance and instructions, reports, correspondence, and company policies and procedures.

- Ability to: apply math, algebraic formulas, and statistics.
