Job summary 

 

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Accounting, McKesson Specialty Health, the Sr. Accounting Analyst is responsible to ensure monthly accounting close tasks are completed accurately and on time. Tasks includes analysis of data source, journal entry preparation and reconciliation, financial statement preparation and variance analysis of current month vs previous fiscal periods.  In addition, this position will provide accounting support to shared services team for balance sheet reconciliations, prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts, partner and provide support to business as needed . The position also requires good understanding of balance sheet and income statement structure and strong working knowledge of full accounting cycle.   

 

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Analyze and reconcile monthly sales and cogs for assigned business units. Prepare monthly journal entries for Blackline / SAP upload for month end close.  

  • Prepare and analyzes the financial statements, provide variance analysis of current month versus previous fiscal periods for management review.  

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy, analyze and review general ledger transactions for opex and balance sheet and ensure transactions are posted to proper account.  

  • Prepare monthly recurring journal entries (allocations, prepaids, consumable, rebates, etc.). 

  • Review inventory transactions, analyze and reconcile SAP data with inventory subledger in Kroll, escalate variance and provide support to variance resolution. 

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts, provide support and review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by shared services. 

  • Reconcile intercompany transactions, work with other McKesson BUs to resolve any outstanding intercompany balances monthly.  

  • Liaison with head office to ensure that all transactions are captured properly in our SAP system. 

  • Always ensure compliance with corporate and accounting policies (SOX). 

  • Participate in preparation of ad-hoc financial reports and complete other tasks as assigned by management.  

General Responsibilities 

  • Communicate with internal and external business partners to resolve pending issues and facilitate a positive working relationship, optimize current processes, and reduce defects. 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the assigned process and other duties as assigned by management. 

  • Provide ad hoc support during internal and external audit reviews. 

  • Lead, coach and guide the business users to achieve desired business results. 

 

Position Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree of Commerce with a major in Accounting. Must have a CPA designation. 

  • Minimum 2-5 years hands on month end close accounting experience. 

  • Intermediate-to-Expert level Excel experience, strong knowledge of MS Office suite, Word and Power Point.  

  • Knowledge of SAP or other major ERP would be an asset. 

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload and work well with minimum supervision. 

  • Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Willing to perform other tasks as required by organizational demands. 

  • Strong attention to detail. 

  • Must be determined and flexible with a positive outlook. 

  • Demonstrates ownership of assigned responsibilities with a confident, independent, and determined attitude.
