Job Summary:

The E-Commerce Associate position supports Goodwill’s digital storefront. In this role, you will provide high-quality items to our online shoppers to advance Goodwill’s Mission. This is a fast-paced role that works at our Goodwill centralized facility in Nashville Tennessee. There you will receive quality items from across the organization, and work with other team members to identify, market them for sale as well as prepping for delivery to our buyers. You will also interact with our customers and provide them the same level of service they could expect at our stores.

To be successful in this role you will be expected to perform a variety of duties in support of Goodwill's e-commerce store. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Photographing products, assisting in selection and processing of items as needed; sorting, cleaning and displaying merchandise; helping facilitate shipping and assisting with pickups; rotating out merchandise. Listing products on ShopGoodwill.com or other online market places, and answering customer service inquiries. Must consistently exceed department quotas, demonstrate production of the highest quality, and demonstrate a willingness to share knowledge with other employees in an effort to strengthen the department as a team.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Ensures that housekeeping, safety, and security are maintained, reporting all needed repairs, problems, and/or hazards immediately.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Secures high-value items and work with the team to ensure they are properly stored and shipped.
  • Receives and documents selected merchandise from stores, tracking shipments daily.
  • Performs initial processing tasks to weigh, measure, and enter selected items into the inventory system.
  • Evaluates the quality of goods through research, identifying marks and brands.
  • Sorts contributions from store locations, staging them in appropriate processing areas for sale on the Goodwill site.
  • Processes books and media items, determining their quality and value to meet department standards.
  • Takes high-quality photos of selected items to assist in their sale and showcase them to online customers.
  • Assists the team with accurate item descriptions by providing all necessary information.
  • Stocks listed items in designated storage areas.
  • Prepares items for shipping by ensuring they are appropriately labeled and stored correctly.
  • Prepares items for safe and secure delivery, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provides excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and scheduling customer pickups.
  • Completes all necessary preventative maintenance work for all equipment on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • If assigned, post items on the Goodwill website or other online marketing platforms.
  • Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession, abuse, or negligence of company property.
  • Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Assists with onsite customer pick-ups, as needed
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Must be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with all team members.
  • Strong time-management skills and must be able to pay attention to detail.
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment.
  • Basic computer skills to perform web searches and data entry.
  • Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed.
  • Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.
  • Ability to work varied hours and days as business dictates, which may include weekends and holidays.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

  • Prior experience working in an eCommerce environment or personal experience, listing and selling items online for sale.
  • Knowledge of collectibles and/or antiques, including musical instruments, electronics, art, fashion brands, glassware, and furniture.

Physical and Work Condition Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, bend and reach for the duration of your shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Donation Attendants must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
