Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Facilities 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Facilities and Maintenance organization. This leadership opportunity is located in Clearfield, Utah.

Shift: Weekdays 6:00am to 3:30pm, 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)

As part of the factory IPT, this leader will provide reviews as to the status of maintenance and reliability issues in the factory and be accountable for the scope, schedule, and budget of each area of activity.  Focus will include understanding Maximo (asset management system) to assure proper work control on preventative maintenance, emergency repair, and equipment modifications.  Additional responsibility will include a sound understanding and participative control of demand, warehousing, and use of spare parts inventory.  This position has considerable latitude for independent action and decision making and will support our current facility and allow it to grow to the next level of operations and production. 

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to oversight and management for the entire facility, including clean rooms, compressors, vacuum systems, humidification, as well as over $100 million dollars’ worth of high-tech composite structures manufacturing equipment.  Other key responsibilities:

  • Prepares and executes maintenance management budgets
  • Manages facilities equipment and tooling spare parts inventories to assure operational readiness
  • Prepare presentations and reports detailing the equipment operational availability and equipment effectiveness
  • Uses lean thinking/manufacturing fundamentals and TPM principles to organize workflow, streamline internal processes and minimize equipment downtime
  • Communicates directly with operations management on status of equipment within the facility
  • Drives root cause & corrective action, utilizing reliability engineering to take proactive approach
  • Drives small team of reliability engineers and maintenance technicians

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of facilities maintenance experience; or a Master’s degree and 2 years of facilities maintenance experience; High School Diploma and 8 years of facilities maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • In-depth hands-on knowledge of facilities and equipment maintenance and reliability services
  • Understanding and experience in troubleshooting factory equipment, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to prepare presentations and conduct meetings with the senior staff
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Ability to obtain a special access program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting, and working overhead

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance last investigated within 6 years or enrolled in continuous evaluation
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and maintenance systems
  • Experience in aerospace industry
  • Experience working in high-rate manufacturing facilities operating on a 24/7 schedule
  • Basic understanding of carbon composite manufacturing is preferred
  • Experience in automated industrial equipment such as storing, retrieving, forming, autoclave, conveyance, trim, inspections, and CNC machining centers is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams with diverse maintenance/craft skills and backgrounds
  • Hands-on experience/background in maintenance fields strongly preferred (Mechanic, Millwright, Pipefitter, HVAC background)

Salary Range: $82,100.00 - $123,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
