The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking to hire a skilled Project Officer to develop solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of fuel cell research, focusing on the fabrication, synthesis, and characterization of materials for SOFCs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting research, managing laboratory
Key Responsibilities:
Fabrication SOFCs.
Synthesize and characterize materials for SOFC applications.
Collaborate with external partners on SOFC research and development.
Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in managing research projects.
Oversee daily laboratory operations, including experiments and safety protocols.
Supervise and mentor researchers and students, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Coordinate with vendors and technicians to meet the laboratory’s technical needs.
Prepare interim reports, presentations, and documentation for ongoing research projects.
Job Requirements:
At least bachelor’s degrees in a relevant field (e.g., solid oxide fuel cells, defect chemistry, high temperature catalysis).
At least 3 years of experience in SOFCs.
Proficiency in the fabrication and characterization of SOFCs, including TEM analysis.
Strong expertise in defect chemistry and solid-state Ionics.
Experience with materials characterization tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and FIB.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken for research work.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Demonstrated experience in project management and laboratory operations.
Proven ability to supervise and mentor researchers and students.
