We are currently seeking a part-time Disaster Residential Care Worker for our Red Cross House disaster shelter in Philadelphia, PA.
The Red Cross House is a 26-unit Disaster Recovery Center that provides 24/7 shelter for those affected by disaster.
The position is 24 hours per week and includes benefits.
Overnight Shift:
Saturday: 12AM to 8AM
Wednesday: 12AM to 8AM
Thursday: 12AM to 8AM
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Under close supervision, the Disaster Residential Care Worker supports the day-to-day operations of a program or service. Serve as the initial point of contact between the service or program and others. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Specific duties:
The Disaster Residential Care Worker will provide intake service and residential care to families left homeless by disaster. Functions include all areas of client care and management, support to the kitchen coordinator; facilitate building safety and evacuation procedures, as well as supervision of cleanliness for client rooms and basic cleanliness of the building.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:
Provide administrative and clerical support including answering telephones, routing incoming calls, process mail, and customer service. Respond to general inquiries about program or service. Maintain calendar of events and activities.
Track program statistics. Follow-up with customers helped by program or service. Maintain community contacts and resource lists to support program or service. Coordinate orientation for new volunteers. Maintain program database and files.
Schedule and coordinate requests for presentations and trainings.
Collect preliminary client information and refer client to appropriate Red Cross services.
Resolve routine problems as they arise and bring non-routine problems to the attention of program or service management/leadership.
Process requests for presentations to community individuals and groups. May conduct presentations as assigned.
Monitor and maintain program supply and equipment inventory, including program or service printed materials.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Up to 1 year of related experience.
Skills & Abilities: Respond promptly to customer needs, listen and obtain clarification, and follow policies and procedures. Complete administrative tasks correctly and on time using time efficiently. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Work with integrity and ethics. Maintain confidentiality. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Travel may be required.
