The Engineering Manager – Light Water Reactor Mechanical Nuclear Island Support Systems will provide leadership to a diverse technical team of dedicated engineers and scientists. The manager will lead a team responsible for design of the following BWRX-300 systems: 1) Process, Radiation, and Environmental Monitoring and Sampling, 2) Outage Management and Tooling, 3) Offgas, 4) Containment, and 5) Containment Inerting. The team works collaboratively both internally and externally with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver Nuclear New Plant Projects for GE Vernova Nuclear.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Engineering Manager, ME Nuclear Island Support Systems, you will:

  • Report to the Senior Manager of BWRX-300 Mechanical Systems Engineering.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership for a diverse team
  • Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the team’s technical and leadership talent/depth
  • Be an example of professional work behaviors with self-accountability, leading to the expectation each team member will strive for excellence
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders
  • Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC or other applicable country specific regulatory agency, as required on technical issues
  • Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables which include system design specifications, piping and instrument diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, hydraulic resistance calculations, equipment sizing, and FMEA evaluations.
  • Drive design development in advanced simulated assisted engineering tools and maintain required system design documents in accordance the program/project software requirements
  • Provide guidance for use of systems specifications as required by other GEH technical disciplines and project design partners
  • Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions
  • Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GVH
  • Support GVH initiatives, process improvement, simplification and design to cost 
  • Support GVH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline or similar
  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in the nuclear industry/safety critical industry or equivalent large scale new build experience in the power industry

  • Expertise in one or more of the system areas defined in the Job Description Summary above
  • High level understanding and experience with successful design process
  • Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change management)
  • Knowledge of US NRC and/or CNSC licensing requirements
  • Engineering/Procurement/Construction (EPC) experience and knowledge; specifically, power plants
  • Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
  • Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) in Ontario

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $134,400.00 and $257,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
