We are looking for a result oriented, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our team as Operations Manager. The Successful candidate will report to the General Manager and be responsible for the overall operations of the company, which includes being accountable for the creation of productivity standards and service levels.  The role is also responsible for the managing, evaluating, and developing of team members. Suitable candidates must be able to solve operational challenges and implement systems which drive efficiency, service, and productivity.

THE ROLE: 

The key responsibilities for Operations Manager:

  • Oversee and direct the operations ensuring the highest level of safety, productivity, and service excellence while focusing on cost and the efficient use of labour.
  • Develop and maintain customer service standards.
  • Plan, develop and coordinate the activities of location managers to achieve budgeted sales and profitability whilst working within budgeted costs.
  • Establish and ensure that satisfactory inventory management practices are in place and adhered to.
  • Design, lead & execute action plans, projects, and best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of all annual financial and marketing budgets and strategic plans.
  • Work with the senior management team to implement aggressive sales and promotional strategies to increase sales in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Take an active role in workload planning and forecasting (i.e., staffing, equipment, space).
  • Participate in the management, training, and development of direct reports as well as hiring & retention of staff.
  • Ensure that MIS are appropriately utilized to manage and improve business efficiency and profitability.
  • Analyse operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports and collaboration with others. Determines opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results.
  • Ensure that all security measures are in place to safeguard the company’s stock, cash, and equipment.
  • Ensure safety policies and practices are adhered to. 
  • Create and implement SOPs.
  • Meet key performance metrics, goals, and objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive team environment and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for direct reports.
  • Demonstrate the expected behaviours of Marshall Trading Leader

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Finance, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a senior management level.
  • Knowledge of the Building Supplies Industry will be an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and build successful teams.
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, and creating business strategy.
  • Experience with warehouse operations and retail would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of business processes and functions: Finance, HR, Procurement and Operations.
  • Strong analytical ability with a problem-solving aptitude.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A high appreciation and understanding of Customer Service             
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact confidently with people at all levels.
  • Ability to coordinate activities between different locations.
