  • Casual nocturnal shifts at St George’s Health Service and day shifts at the Fitzroy site

  • Experience in Dialysis required

About the Role

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is seeking a number of passionate and experienced registered nurses to join the Nurse Workforce Unit’s Casual Nurse Bank team (Dialysis Stream). Shifts are available based on supplementary staffing demand, but will mostly be required on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, nocturnal shifts, at St George's Health service. You will be responsible for the delivery of expert nursing care and support to patients undergoing dialysis in an outpatient setting. When necessary, you will also be able to pick up shifts at the Fitzroy Dialysis Unit for AMs and PMs.

Working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, you will be required to use your exceptional clinical skills to efficiently and accurately plan, coordinate and evaluate care needs to ensure high quality care. You will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely within a friendly and supportive team environment.

You will also:

  • Manage the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

  • Administer medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies.

  • Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit.

  • Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress.

Classifications for the RN position will range from ZU5 - ZU11 ($75,134.80 - $95,378.40 per annum pro rata) + casual loading

About the Nephrology Department (Dialysis Unit)

The St George's Dialysis service provides onsite outpatient haemodialysis for those patients experiencing chronic renal failure. It caters for a wide range of patient needs including nocturnal haemodialysis. The Dialysis Unit encourage ongoing professional development and promotes a standard of excellence in clinical nursing within a cohesive and flexible team.

Your Contribution

As an experienced, motivated and passionate dialysis nurse, you will bring demonstrated knowledge and commitment to a patient-centred care framework. Your excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills will allow you to facilitate team outcomes in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Current condition free registration with AHPRA.

  • Minimum three years’ experience in haemodialysis nursing is essential.

  • Post graduate Renal certificate is desirable but not essential.

  • Recent experience with Nipro Surdial X Dialysis machine is desirable.

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain.

  • Current National Disability Insurance Scheme check, or willing to obtain.
