Technical Intern

Project Description:

• This internship will assist the Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) Architect team.  The IT/OT Architect team works on multiple efforts in all areas of the business.
• The position duties will be tailored to the candidate’s interests and skillset and can include network/application technical diagramming; technical documentation; assist in technical solutioning; technical hands-on support; assist in evaluating the technical components of vendor responses in Requests for Proposals (RFP); ensure alignment with enterprise standards including cyber security; or other duties as directed. 
• The internship will give the candidate exposure to multiple technologies in the IT/OT space, along with the opportunity to collaborate across multiple business units.  The position will work closely with a core set of architects that provide mentorship and growth opportunities to the intern. There is an opportunity for full time employment post internship.  
• This will be a school semester opportunity with the potential to extend into the summer. The candidate should be able to work 15-20 hrs./wk. during a school semester and full-time during the summer. 
• This internship will start in January 2025 or prior for 12 months

Requirements:

• Ability to commute to location is required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in one of the following computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, data science, or similar.
• Must be a sophomore grade level or above.
• Critical thinking, problem solving, ability to collaborate, ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and initiative
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Writing: Technical writing, documentation, and processes

Preferred Requirements:

• Flowcharting & Diagramming: technical diagrams of process, data flows, applications, networks, etc.

• High level understanding of cyber security concepts such as the CIA triad

• Basic understanding of Data Structures - how data is organized and related.

• Basic understanding of infrastructure and networking concepts such as: servers, ports, protocols, operating systems, databases, subnets, firewalls, and routers

• Basic understanding of distributed applications

• Basic understanding of technology lifecycle

• Knowledge of cloud services

• Knowledge and interest for newer technologies related to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $18.40 to $27.20 per hour
