Reports to: Restaurant Manager  

Pay Range: $15/hour

Job Summary: The Host is responsible for welcoming guests, managing seating arrangements, and providing excellent customer service in the restaurant. This role ensures a smooth guest experience by coordinating reservations, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with general operations while fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Welcome guests with a friendly smile and assist with seating arrangements in the restaurant.
  • Provide guests with menus and communicate promotions, seasonal offerings, and general bar knowledge.
  • Monitor activity to determine seating availability and manage guest flow efficiently.
  • Utilize the reservation system to manage reservations, update seating charts, and assist with inquiries.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cleaning, restocking, and preparing the restaurant for service.
  • Assist with side work, such as folding silverware and maintaining cleanliness in the restaurant.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries and resolve any immediate concerns.
  • Answer telephone calls, handle reservations, and transfer calls as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments during special events or peak service periods.
  • Thank guests as they leave, invite them to return, and relay guest feedback to the manager on duty.
  • Ensure compliance with dress code and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations preferred, but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, follow directions, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods and perform light physical tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage reservations and seating arrangements.
     

Work Environment:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods during shifts.
  • Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and supervisors in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks, such as carrying menus, folding silverware, and restocking supplies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands.
