About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager of Legal Operations to join our innovative team and drive the evolution of our global legal organization. Our ideal candidate will be a key leader within CrowdStrike’s award-winning Legal Operations Team, focused on enhancing operational excellence through a sophisticated blend of people, processes, and technology solutions. This role reports directly to the Director of Legal Operations and will have overarching responsibility for the company's legal billing processes, ensuring compliance with billing guidelines, optimizing vendor relationships, and driving key financial management initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of leadership in legal e-billing systems, advanced legal vendor management—including rate management and negotiation—and legal professional services financial management and analytics. This role will also be instrumental in shaping and implementing the strategic direction of the legal operations function, providing best in class tools and support to the entire legal team.


 

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Billing Management:

  • Lead the end-to-end legal billing process, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing, while proactively resolving complex billing issues.

  • Oversee and enforce rate compliance, including the strategic review, negotiation, and approval of timekeeper rates in alignment with company policies.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve e-billing policies, procedures, and best practices to drive efficiency and compliance across the department.

  • Manage the e-billing system, ensuring optimal performance, user access, and integration with other enterprise systems, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic consultation to internal teams on matter-level detail and coding, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with in-house counsel and finance teams to monitor, analyze, and resolve invoice disputes, driving continuous improvement in billing accuracy and vendor relations.

  • Conduct regular audits of invoices to ensure adherence to billing guidelines and identify opportunities for process enhancement.

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for internal and external users to maximize system efficiency and compliance.

  • Engage with e-billing system vendors to resolve technical issues and enhance system capabilities, ensuring seamless integration with other enterprise tools.

 

Vendor & Relationship Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong, strategic relationships with external vendors, conducting regular performance reviews and addressing issues related to billing and service delivery.

  • Lead the onboarding of new vendors into procurement and accounts payable systems, ensuring a streamlined and compliant process.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for law firm and vendor inquiries related to invoices and payments, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.

 

Financial Management & Strategic Reporting:

  • Play a key role in the development of the legal department's financial strategy, assisting with forecasting, budget planning, and the identification of cost-saving opportunities.

  • Analyze billing data to uncover trends and recommend strategies for rate optimization and financial efficiency.

  • Lead negotiations with external law firms and vendors, leveraging data-driven insights to achieve favorable billing rates and service agreements.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive playbook of fee arrangements, hourly rates, and financial benchmarks to guide audits and vendor management.

  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports and visual summaries, providing senior leadership with actionable insights to drive strategic decision-making.

 

Leadership & General Operations:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic legal operations initiatives, driving continuous improvement across all administrative tasks and projects.

  • Maintain rigorous documentation and records management practices to ensure audit readiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department.

  • Champion knowledge management initiatives, ensuring that critical information is accessible, organized, and up-to-date.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that support the evolving needs of the Legal team and the broader organization.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in legal operations, e-billing, or a related role.

  • Proven track record in rate management and negotiation.

  • Specific experience with e-billing systems.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google Suite applications.

  • Must understand database management and systems best practices.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and present financial data.

  • Must be very detail oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with the skills to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work independently and escalate issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in the cybersecurity or technology industry.

  • Knowledge of legal billing guidelines and best practices.

  • Experience with Business Insights tools (i.e., Tableau).
