Senior Tax Associate

Job Description:

 

HITT Contracting, Inc. has an immediate need for a Corporate Tax and Compliance Senior Associate to join our dynamic team.  This is a great opportunity to play key role within our corporate tax and compliance team. The role is highly visible, offers a positive, team-oriented environment and exposure to all areas of the company. The position will report to the corporate tax manager. Below are the attributes and competencies of a qualified candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare periodic indirect tax returns including but not limited to Sales Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, Business Tax, Commercial Activity Tax (CAT), Property Tax, and business & occupation (B&O) Tax

  • Assist with the preparation of the income tax provision, estimated tax payments, and income tax compliance

  • Provide audit assistance and support with data gathering, report analysis, account analysis and reconciliations, using generally acceptable accounting principles

  • Work with accounts payable to manage disbursement requests to taxing authorities

  • Research tax issues and communicate implications to project teams

  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to gather information as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience

  • 2-5 years of accounting & tax experience

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, anticipate resource needs, and meet deadlines

  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook

  • Experience researching state & local tax laws and regulations using third party research tools

  • Construction firm, real estate, or development experience a plus

  • Experience with JD Edwards or other comparable ERP solutions a plus

  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner

  • Superior judgement and critical thinking skills. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
