Job Description Summary:

Xoom, A PayPal Service, is revolutionizing the global digital money services market by providing people with an easy, convenient, and cost-effective means of sending money worldwide. We offer a secure, fast, and inexpensive means of sending money, paying bills and topping up prepaid services across multiple digital platforms to both online and offline recipients.

We are looking for a talented DevOps engineer to help us strengthen our world-class data operations team. In this versatile role, you will be responsible for helping shape the future of mission-critical data store systems. You will be collaborating closely with engineering teams to design and build data layers for our highly complex environments

Job Description:

In your day-to-day role, you will:

  • Manage and monitor thousands of QA/Staging/Production database instances that include SQL and NoSQL services.
  • Database support and engineering.
  • Follow change management and security guidelines.
  • Deliver various DB changes to mission-critical production databases.
  • Troubleshoot SQL and NoSQL engines.
  • Troubleshoot Linux environments.
  • Write technical documentation related to daily tasks.

What do you need to bring:

  • One year experience with GCP is required, and CloudSQL is desirable.
  • Experience with Terraform, Paker & Puppet is a must.
  • Experience with environment build and support including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning, and monitoring for SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with large-scale SQL and NoSQL Databases such as MySQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity practice, capacity planning, monitoring, backups, performance tuning, query optimization, and security.
    Strong understanding of hardware performance, memory, and I/O.
  • Experience in Linux operating systems and strong understanding of cloud computing
  • Repetitive task automation at scale is a plus

Language requirement: 

  • Proficient (B2: Upper-Intermediate) in both written and spoken English.
