At Harvey, we’re transforming how legal and professional services operate — not incrementally, but end-to-end. By combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise, we’re reshaping how critical knowledge work gets done for decades to come.
This is a rare chance to help build a generational company at a true inflection point. With 700+ customers in 58+ countries, strong product-market fit, and world-class investor support, we’re scaling fast and defining a new category in real time. The work is ambitious, the bar is high, and the opportunity for growth — personal, professional, and financial — is unmatched.
Our team is sharp, motivated, and deeply committed to the mission. We move fast, operate with intensity, and take real ownership of the problems we tackle — from early thinking to long-term outcomes. We stay close to our customers — from leadership to engineers — and work together to solve real problems with urgency and care. If you thrive in ambiguity, push for excellence, and want to help shape the future of work alongside others who raise the bar, we invite you to build with us.
At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.
Harvey is transforming how the world’s best legal professionals work, and India is central to that growth. We’re looking for a People Business Partner (PBP) to be our founding People leader in India—someone who can partner at a strategic level and is excited to roll up their sleeves in the short term to help build the foundations of our People function on the ground.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Harvey in India from the very beginning. In the near term, you’ll take on a mix of People Business Partner and People Generalist responsibilities, ensuring a strong employee experience as we scale our presence. Over time, as we hire dedicated People Operations, Office Management, and Workplace partners, this role will increasingly focus on senior leadership partnership, org design, performance, and talent strategy.
If you’re energized by building from scratch, enjoy being close to the work, and want to leave a lasting imprint on culture, leadership, and how work gets done—this role is for you.
You’ll partner closely with senior leaders in India and work hand-in-hand with Harvey’s global People team to ensure our practices are both globally aligned and locally grounded.
Serve as the primary People point of contact for leaders and employees in India—trusted, pragmatic, and thoughtful.
Build credibility quickly by staying close to the business and understanding team goals, challenges, and growth plans.
Act as a calm, steady presence in a fast-moving environment.
Coach and advise managers on performance, development, feedback, team health, and org design.
Support leadership through periods of rapid growth, change, and scaling.
Translate business needs into People solutions that drive clarity, accountability, and performance.
Partner with the global People team to roll out core programs (performance reviews, promotions, engagement surveys, compensation cycles) and adapt them thoughtfully for the Indian context.
Surface insights from the ground to inform global program evolution.
Support day-to-day People operations before we hire additional local support, including:
Employee onboarding and offboarding
Acting as a local point of contact for workplace, IT, and employee experience needs
Answering employee questions and resolving issues efficiently and empathetically
Help establish early People processes, documentation, and rhythms that will later scale.
Help define what Harvey’s culture feels like in India—aligned with our global values, but reflective of the local team.
Create moments of connection, belonging, and engagement through team rituals, events, and shared practices.
Manage employee relations issues with empathy, discretion, and sound judgment.
Ensure compliance with Indian employment laws and local People practices, partnering with legal and external advisors as needed.
Identify gaps before they become problems and design practical solutions.
Document processes and help lay the groundwork for future People Operations and Office Management hires.
Transition operational responsibilities over time as the People team in India grows.
7+ years of experience in People Business Partnering, with comfort operating in high-growth or startup environments.
Experience supporting Engineering teams and partnering closely with senior leaders.
A builder’s mindset: you’re energized by ambiguity and excited to create structure where none exists yet.
Willingness to be hands-on in the short term while keeping an eye on long-term scale and impact.
Strong business judgment and the ability to connect people's work to business outcomes.
High emotional intelligence, empathy, and discretion—people trust you.
Excellent execution skills: organized, responsive, and reliable.
Familiarity with Indian employment law and People practices (and a strong ability to learn quickly).
Passion for building exceptional employee experiences and shaping a strong, sustainable culture.
