What You Will Be Doing  

  • Install and maintain up- to-date Operational System software, patch levels, firmware, drivers and related program products
  • Proficient in infrastructure architecture of large-scale, automated environments
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of Data center architecture and technology solutions involving Dell/HP/IBM Servers & Blade servers
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through innovation and change.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis while working in a diverse technology environment
  • Ability to fix kernel related issue without formatting OS and database is must
  • Should be able to resolve the tasks escalated by L1 and L2 teams.
  • Undertakes problem analysis and create RCAs
  • Undertake technology POC and design and deployment activities as part of major projects
  • Maintain up-to-date design of windows infrastructure documents
  • Use boolean settings to modify system SELinux settings; Diagnose and address routine SELinux policy violations
  • Hand on customized Shell Scripting (Puppet, GNU bash, Python, Ruby and Perl)
  • List, create, delete partitions on MBR and GPT disks
  • Strong Analytical skill in File system LVM, DFS, XFS,GFS, JFS, ZFS, rPools, , Ext3, Ext4, VxVM, SVM file systems.
  • Good Analytical resolving skill of TCP/IP, NFS, DNS, LDAP, FTP, NTP, SMTP, Samba, Apache, Send mail, Qmail, NIS
  • Proficient in infrastructure architecture of large-scale, automated environments
  • Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and first level maintenance of the various application servers, systems and associated peripherals. This also includes adequate follow up on Problem Resolution tracking using the Remedy tool.
  • Engage in capacity planning and monitoring usage reports. Recommends alternatives to infrastructure reconfiguration including replacement or addition of capacity.
  • Interact with software and hardware maintenance providers in enforcing adequate levels of support to the installed inventory.
  • Report and respond to critical security events and take corrective measures per defined security incident management processes
  • Role Specific Experience: At least 2 years of experience managing mission critical Unix (AIX or Solaris) and Linux systems with proven involvement in operations requiring for stringent uptime service levels.
  • Experience with ITIL processes like Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Release Management and Configuration Management, Availability Management
  • Create custom scripts for gathering the inventory from clients.
  • Experience of clustering and Load balancing

What will you Bring

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering preferably in Information Management or Computer Science.
  • AIX, RHCE/RHCA certification is mandate
  • Overall 7 -15  years of experience in Unix/Linux/Solaris Administration
  • Good Unix administration background (AIX / Solaris / HP-UX / RHEL / SuSE)
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of Data center architecture and technology solutions involving Dell/HP/IBM Servers & Blade servers
  • Should have a good understanding of SAN/NAS technologies and RAID configurations.
  • Monitoring and reporting associated with the reliability and security of the domain
  • Monitoring changes to domain root and domain controllers OU to ensure unauthorized changes do not occur
  • Create custom scripts for gathering the inventory from clients.
  • Understanding of third party application patching.
  • Day to day housekeeping Ensuring that servers are healthy and have adequate hardware capacity
  • Day to day interaction with onsite teams to resolve incidents
  • Raising, discussing and executing change management tasks
  • Must investigate and diagnose Problems. Proactively review Incident trends. Execute Tasks that are not well defined requiring a deeper level of knowledge and understanding.
  • Knowledge of VERITAS Cluster Service.
  • High level familiarity with components and peripherals, including disks and network
  • Relevant experience configuring and maintaining Highly Available configurations
  • Relevant experience in environments supporting Databases (Oracle and Sybase), including intimacy with DB concepts and operations
  • Relevant experience or good understanding of WEB related technologies, including architectural concepts but also basic operational principles of applications servers, web servers, etc.
  • Team player with strong technical and user support skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse types of audience (management, users, vendor, and technical staff)
