Job Purpose

As a key member of the UK & ROI Digital Marketing team, the Social Media Assistant is responsible for building, nurturing, and engaging our online communities while delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers the opportunity to shape our brand’s digital presence across DEWALT, STANLEY & BLACK+DECKER, drive engagement, and contribute to strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be proactive, data-driven, and passionate about community building, customer satisfaction, and digital innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Community Management, Customer Service, Social Media Insights & Influencer Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer inquiries and community interactions across social channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit), ensuring timely, professional, and brand-aligned responses.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaged community environment by moderating discussions, addressing concerns, and celebrating community milestones.
  • Re-share customer and consumer stories, and actively engage with user-generated content to amplify authentic brand experiences.
  • Proactively engage with customer and consumer content, encouraging participation and building relationships with our audience.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on social media performance, campaign effectiveness, and community sentiment using tools such as Sprinklr and Zendesk.
  • Share actionable insights and recommendations to optimise content, engagement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, the Customer Service team, and the Digital Marketing team, advocating for customer needs and sharing insights.
  • Assist with the planning, scheduling, and publishing of content across all social media platforms, ensuring alignment with campaign calendars and brand guidelines.
  • Support influencer identification, outreach, and relationship management to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on campaign execution, content creation, and community initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation of basic visual content (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite), working with the design team as required.
  • Support social listening and competitor benchmarking activities to identify opportunities and risks.

Competencies & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with CRM and social media analytics tools (e.g., Zendesk, Sprinklr, Sprout, Emplifi) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex ideas simply.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and KPIs.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multi-national teams.
  • Comfortable building and nurturing relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with basic content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop) is advantageous.

Requirements

Formal Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; further studies in marketing, communications, or related fields preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service and community management; experience in a digital marketing environment is a plus.

Other:

Occasional travel will be required.
