Compensation Range:

$23.06 - $32.29

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Leads the activities within the hospital as it pertains to the patient transportation. Coordinates with the appropriate external groups on matters pertaining to transportation operations. Serves as liaison to the departments on matters related to specific areas of responsibility and participates in group processes related to overall hospital transportation and decision making. Leads the efficient and timely movement of patients within our healthcare facility. Leads a team of transportation staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and optimizing the workflow to enhance patient experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises and leads a team of patient transporters, including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Ensures adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities, including transport times, destinations, and special instructions. Prepares reports on transport metrics, such as turnaround times and patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Coordinates and oversees patient transport services, including scheduling transport requests, assigning tasks to transporters, and ensuring timely and efficient patient movement. Monitors patient transport workflow to optimize efficiency and minimize delays. Interacts with patients, families, and clinical staff to coordinate transport logistics and address any concerns or special requests. Maintains effective communication with nursing units, emergency departments, and other hospital departments to facilitate smooth patient transfers.
  • Manages equipment used for patient transport, ensuring availability, maintenance, and proper functioning. Monitors inventory of supplies needed for patient transport activities and coordinates replenishment as necessary. Participates in hospital emergency response drills and readiness exercises related to patient transport. Coordinates transport logistics during emergencies or mass casualty incidents as part of the hospital's emergency management plan.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital standards, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements related to patient transport. Conducts quality assurance checks and audits to maintain high standards of service delivery. Identifies opportunities for process improvements in patient transport services, workflow efficiencies, and resource utilization. Implements best practices and innovative solutions to enhance patient transport operations.
  • Provides training to patient transport staff on safety procedures, equipment usage, patient handling techniques, and customer service standards. Facilitates ongoing professional development and skills enhancement for transport team members. Collaborates with other hospital departments, including nursing, emergency services, and facilities management, to ensure seamless patient care and operational coordination. Fosters a collaborative and supportive team environment among patient transport staff to promote morale and productivity.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year of hospital experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
