The Role 

We are looking to recruit a senior software engineer who is experienced in Linux OS for a variety of new project wins.

These projects will involve you working as part of a global team to deliver innovative solutions. You’ll be working with a mixed discipline team of engineers (software, hardware, mechanical, quality) to support our medical, telecommunications and aerospace customers. 

 

In this role you will:

•    Design and develop across the full lifecycle from concept definition; requirements analysis; detailed design; software implementation and integration onto customer PCBAs; onto manufacturing functional test and production support.
•    Create high quality deliverables for our customers including, requirements documents, architecture and design documents, verification test documents, and most importantly source code for embedded systems, custom device drivers for numerous operating systems, and control algorithms.
•    Provide support for our continuous improvement activities and develop an understanding of how a multi-billion dollar manufacturing services company operates.

You will be able to:

•    Lead, inspire and motivate software engineers of various experience levels.
•    Experience with embedded development, developing cross-compiled software on microcontrollers/microprocessors such as ARM.
•    Experience building and extending Embedded Linux Systems (Yocto).

•    Awareness of software considerations when reviewing hardware schematics and datasheets.
•    Experience of debugging software and supporting board bring-up activities.
•    Good communication skills, fluency in English is a must.
•    Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

Desirable Skills
•    Experience in CyberSecurity.
•    Proven experience with C or Modern C++.
•    Aerospace/defence sector exposure.
•    Awareness of Agile development practices.
•    Familiarity with one or more embedded operating systems –QNX, ThreadX or FreeRTOS.
•    Awareness of real-time development and/or safety critical systems.
•    Awareness of scripting languages and continuous integration frameworks.
•    Reasonable understanding of other disciplines and may have led multi-disciplined teams.

•    Experience with Docker or virtualisation techniques (VMware).
