North West Veterinary Specialists offers a one-year Neurology Internship position to veterinarians wishing to advance their clinical training in veterinary neurology.

Located in modern facilities, with full onsite MRI and CT services, Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a referral only specialist centre within easy commuting distance of historic Chester, Liverpool, North Wales or Manchester. The successful candidate will join an expanding team of RCVS, and European Specialist Clinicians in anaesthesia, internal medicine, oncology, orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology & neurosurgery (https://www.nwspecialists.com/).

The successful candidate will be supervised and will closely work together with ECVN Diplomates. The successful candidate will benefit from both a busy and dynamic clinical environment and formal training. Interns participate in hospital rounds, journal clubs, and are encouraged to get clinical research experience and to attend continuing professional development sessions provided also by the specialist members of staff.

Applicants to the internship program will be selected on the basis of their written application, an interview and referee reports. Applicants should have successfully completed a 12-month rotating internship or have experience in small animal practice for at least 2 years. Successful applicants should hold a veterinary degree and be member of the RCVS (MRCVS). Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

The successful candidate will be expected to start in February 2025.

About Us

We are a true multidisciplinary referral only hospital with departments in orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging. Each of the clinical disciplines is staffed to European Diplomate or RCVS Specialist standards. The hospital is well equipped and provides excellent inpatient facilities with qualified RVNs and veterinary interns on-site 24/7. Imaging includes computed radiography, fluoroscopy (with digital subtraction and road-mapping), ultrasonography and on-site MRI and CT.
