SUMMARY

As an Environmental Services Assistant, you will perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain all aspects of facility cleanliness. Your attention to detail and commitment to customer service is extremely important.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleaning & Maintenance. Follow a written schedule to complete the approved cleaning process task sheet; dispose of regulated medical waste/trash; set up and/or clean conference rooms and common areas; operate mechanical floor cleaners (as assigned)
  • Policy & Procedure. Adhere to all uniform, attendance, departmental and organizational policies and procedures
  • Prioritization. Display good judgment when prioritizing multiple requests or responsibilities

Position Summary:
Provides a full range of environmental services which include, but are not limited to, the cleaning of patient care environments through routine cleaning, disinfecting, equipment cleaning, floor/wall cleaning, trash removal and biohazardous waste. Helps maintain a clean, comfortable and secure environment for residents, patients, visitors, and staff. The ES Aide provides support and service to all staff and performs all duties in compliance with specific hospital/skilled nursing facility requirements. Provide superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values. Cleaning and disinfecting by Environmental Services is the main defense against serious infections that may linger on surfaces throughout a medical facility. Collaboration between Infection Prevention and Environmental Services staff limits the prospect of disease transmission within the healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Soiled linen removal and collection. 
  • Responsible for trash collection and bathroom cleaning, project cleaning and spill cleanup and/or disinfection. 
  • Responsible for making beds-unoccupied. 
  • Clean occupied patient rooms daily. Must maintain patient and staff confidentiality.
  • Dust and wet mopping, additional floor care (as needed).
  • Maintains furnishings. 
  • Clean offices, waiting rooms, and public areas.
  • Terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms. This includes total room preparation from discharge up to when the next patient occupies the room. 
  • Attend/participate in mandatory educational programs as defined by both hospital and departmental policies.
  • May be exposed to medications and will direct nurse services to address the immediate issue.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
