As a PRN Speech Language Pathologist, you will evaluate and treat patients with injuries or diseases which result in loss or impairment of speech, language, voice, cognitive and/or swallowing function. Our Avon Hospital Inpatient Hospital Therapy Team where we treat medically complex patients in a dynamic acute care inpatient setting. Weekends and Weekday Availability Desired. Acute care and modified barium swallow study experience preferred. Must have CFY completed. Please submit availability in your cover letter.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition and establishes goals and plan of care.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard speech therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Completes documentation to comply with department, hospital, and regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Master's level degree required.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program.

Certifications:

  • Current Ohio Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Must hold or have applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in clinical area preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
