What We Do

We raise the quality level of audio in all Epic game titles and technologies as well as engage with a world-class team to create amazing gaming experiences.

What You'll Do

As part of the Epic Games Audio Team, you’ll collaborate with world-class teams to create amazing gaming experiences and sounds. You’ll also help push the development of audio features and integration for future Unreal audio engine development and contribute to various aspects of audio design for our collaboration with Disney.

In this role, you will

  • Constantly strive for new and innovative ways to immerse players with audio and help to raise the quality level of audio in all Epic game titles and technologies
  • Collaborate with other sound designers over aspects of a particular sound that may or may not be working once hooked up in the game and collaborate with diverse teams and disciplines to cleanly integrate systems that drive audio
  • Tackle complex challenges in interactive audio by creatively problem-solving and devising innovative solutions
  • Write, develop and innovate new systems to solve complex problems for game or development systems to ship products and tools within the Native Unreal audio pipeline and write systems/tools to empower content creators and/or improve their workflows
  • Effectively debug visual scripting (Blueprint) and/or code issues that are not only audio-based issues.
  • Engage in the feedback and iteration processes for audio asset creation
  • Collaborate with and communicate directions within and outside of the audio team.

What we're looking for

  • In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine components: including but not limited to scripting, level editor, animation, and Sequencer editors
  • Proficiency in native Unreal Engine audio workflow approaches such as UE Metasounds, Soundcues, and Visual Scripting/Code Based (C++ or Python)
  • Experience with game development methodologies such as the Actor+Component model, Singletons, and data-driven design
  • Ability to effectively debug scripting logic issues
  • Experience creating quality audio assets using a DAW and familiarity with fundamental audio concepts and digital signal processing
  • Ability to talk about and deconstruct other current games’ audio quality and implementation
  • Experience working on a AAA game product’s audio

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
