Job Summary:

Functions under the direction of the Site Manager. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of clinical procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The registered nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs. Addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and patient/family education needs in providing care to the patient and family. The nurse can independently perform job functions.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Maintains and strengthens relationships with physicians and assures their involvement in developing systems to assure the growth of the service and the cost effective delivery of quality patient care in a manner that fosters patient and employee satisfaction. Clinical Skills
- Completes Cath Lab/EP competencies
- Provides intraprocedural care to stable and unstable Cath/PCI/EP patients
- Able to use critical thinking skills
- Able to deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situations
- Administers conscious sedation per system policy and procedure
- Performs required pre-procedure preparation and safety checks
- Demonstrates and understands sterile technique
- Demonstrates IV administration competence and maintenance
- Performs hemodynamic monitoring and procedural documentation Quality and Patient Safety
- Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, i.e. Armband, DOB, verbal identification
- Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker
- Verifies Written Order, seeks clarification is unclear
- Understands and complies with verbal order RBAC and performs necessary follow-up with written order
- Completes preprocedural verification/time out
- Understands and complies with site/side marking when indicated Job Responsibilities
- Must be flexible with hours to meet department needs
- Able to work scheduled and On-Call hours if necessary
- Knows existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable.
- Introduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting
- Transports patients as needed
- Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers
- Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and Performance Improvement
- Completes necessary paperwork
- Answers department phone using proper scripting
- Completes chart reviews as needed
- Performs QA/QC functions as needed
- Maintains current successful completion of BLS and ACLS
- Understands Scope of Service for Cath Lab / EP Lab
- Assists in in-service/training for other Cath Lab / EP Lab staff as appropriate
- Recognizes that total patient care starts when the patient arrives at our facility and ends when the physician/patient has the imaging results.
- Meets Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as needed.
- Maintains checking the crash cart and procedure rooms Patient Education
- Responsible for patient, family/support system education
- Provides post procedural home care instructions as needed.

Required Minimum Education:

Graduate of an accredited/approved School of Nursing Required
Graduate of an accredited/approved School of Nursing Required

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS - Instructor or ACLS - Provisional


Additional License(s) and Certification(s):



Required Minimum Experience:

1 year ICU/CCU/ER or previous Cath Lab/EP Lab experience Preferred
