Job Title:

Perfusion Assistant

Job Summary:

Perfusion Assistant prepares the operating room for the patient and oversees the entry of the patient. Under supervision of the Perfusionist, assists with hemodynamic equipment, auto-transfusion blood salvage, and assists the perfusionist during the procedure. Prepares and operates the Hepcon Heparin management system for surgical procedures. Assists point of care laboratory department with quality controls of point of care equipment. Respond to certain emergency situations when appropriate.

Healthcare experience in a surgical environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent attention to detail and adherence to sterile techniques, ability to work effectively under pressure in high-acuity surgical settings, and good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

• Order supplies and Restock cabinets and carts.
• Maintain all POC and Perfusion equipment (daily, weekly Qc's and monthly maintenance).
• Assist perfusionist with pulling supplies and preparing for the days cases.
• Assist perfusionist during CPB with ACT, Blood Gases and cell salvage.
• Assist perfusionist with the tear down and maintenance of the H/L machine after bypass.
